sunset
oil on canvas 18x24

this is from a photograph i found somewhere and started painting it plein air at labrador park. there is a nice feeling about working outdoors especially with natural lighting and God's beauty surrounding you. i was so immersed with my piece i had to stop only because it was getting dark. the hard part of this though was when i had to carry my wet canvas along with my easel and other things, take a crowded bus and head home. i worked in my living room till i finished the painting from then on. i don't know which was worse actually because my tiny flat had practically no space i had to work on the floor beside a shag carpet which sheds fibers every single day (naturally sticking to my brush and paints.. -.-) plus set up and pack each time! it took me a staggering 4 months painting on and off. needless to say, i enjoyed working on this piece a lot :)

  1. This is superb! I think you have to do that often. Paint outdoors and be inspired by your surroundings! Imagining you doing that is such a nice scene! GO GO GO! =)
